In June 2020, 46 supporters of The Cure Parkinson’s Trust (CPT) including 6 people with Parkinson's disease (PwP) will be taking on the legendary Raid Alpine cycle route to raise vital funds for CPT’s search for a cure for Parkinson’s.
In this extreme test of endurance, Raid Alpine will take our riders from the shores of Lake Geneva, across the Alps, to Nice and the beautiful Mediterranean town of Antibes.
800km; 19,000m of ascent; over twice the height of Mount Everest on bikes in 6 days is not for the fainthearted, and this time the team includes 6 people with Parkinson’s. It will be an incredible challenge…
The team is taking this on to raise funds for CPT’s research for a cure for Parkinson’s, a debilitating neurodegenerative disease. Many of the team, including Mike and Iain, have been donating to and/or raising funds for CPT for years. The condition has touched the lives of almost all of us.
There is no cure for Parkinson’s: CPT is dedicated to resolving that. It funds projects that have the potential to slow, stop or reverse the progression of Parkinson’s. It supports both pre-clinical research and clinical trials of promising candidate drugs. At a time of exciting new developments in Parkinson’s research, CPT believes that it is the funding of research, rather than the science, which is the main obstacle to effective new curative therapies.
All donations will go to CPT. Please support us in this extreme challenge and help us consign Parkinson’s to medical history.
