All proceeds go to Rwanda Cricket Stadium Foundation
About the charity:
Alby Shale (my step-brother) has spent the last 3 years, setting up the Rwanda Cricket Stadium Foundation and introducing Cricket to Rwanda. After the devastating genocide in Rwanda in 1994 where an estimated 800,000 Tutsi people were killed by the Hutu subsequently the Rwandan government has done enormous amounts for the reconciliation of the two tribes. In memory of Alby’s father, Christopher Shale, who passed away at Glastonbury in 2011, and as a means of reunification between the two tribes Alby and the RCSF have introduced the sport to Rwanda and are currently building Rwanda's first cricket pitch and stadium.
The wicket has been laid, the outfield is looking green and lush, the pavilion is going up as we speak. Even before the opening ceremony in October RCSF is now turning its attention to what happens after the ground is built, with partnerships with the UNHCR to coach cricket in refugee camps, and with WomenWin to promote gender equality, already established.
