The central area of Mexico has been very affected by the earthquake that happened September 19th. Especially in rural areas around Mexico City, the situation is devastating. They have no water supply, no electricity, and the help is focusing more on Mexico City.
I am a Member of the Board of the Community Foundation in Malinalco, a little town about 80 KM south-west of Mexico City. We have been working in the last 10 years especially in the fields of:
- environmental problems
- project work with students, to help them develop skills that will help them and their communities
- networking and support of local organizations
We have a strong board and are a very serious and institutionalised organization: http://www.fundacioncomunitariamalinalco.org.
It would be wonderful if the community of Ardingly College could help us with a donation.
We could direct the money where it is more needed - for example, to rebuild the schools and houses.
