Why I'm pledging
Hands up / or should I say paddles up... I fancied a challenge, saw this and said go for it. I was unaware of the charity, the cancer and the fact rowing is quite hard (putting a rowing machine together was bad enough). I'm hopping on a rowing boat and rowing 200 miles. Please note I've never rowed before, I start in Ibiza (and not drinking whilst there), rowing to Barcelona (assume no wine on board) and hopefully getting to Barcelona (I have an on-line navigation course I need to complete).
Why?
To fundraise for an extremely worthwhile cause.

The charity is Noman Is An Island which aims to end HPV (human papillomavirus), prevent 5% of cancers and promote its awareness. Paddle up again (actually apparently it is an oar), I was unaware HPV affects men and women and can be prevented by having a simple vaccine. HPV is a highly contagious virus that lives on the skin and it is estimated that 80% of the population will have an HPV infection at some point in their lifetime. Mostly this won’t cause any serious health issues, but it can lead to other, more serious, diseases, and it is the cause of around 5% of all cancer cases worldwide. It has long been recognised as the cause of cervical, vaginal, and vulvar cancers in women but it is less well-known that it is also the cause of cancers elsewhere, including anal, penile, and head and neck cancers which are rising dramatically in men. There is a vaccination which is routinely given to women but not to men so the charity has two aims:
1. To raise awareness and secure gender-neutral vaccination
2. To improve treatment options for HPV-related cancers.

Please help me to help them.

Thank you for reading this far and thank you for any donation you make. With the IFA hat on you get tax relief on the contribution assuming you pay tax that is:)
