Any kind of spinal cord injury or illness is a life-changing experience. The charity which Robinites is raising money for - The Back-Up Trust - is led by volunteers and provides support to people affected by spinal cord injury.
The charity was set up by Mike Nemesvary, a world champion freestyle skier with numerous TV and film appearances. Aged just 24, Mike’s life changed forever: during a routine training session on a trampoline, he landed awkwardly and broke his neck. His own recovery taught him that there was a pressing need for advice and help, not only for the person who had suffered the injury but also for the families who were also affected. He set up The Back-Up Trust to address this need. The training, mentoring and support which the Trust provides now helps more than 800 people every year.
To help this incredible charity, Robinites will field a relay team to swim the length of the English Channel in the school pool in under 2 hours. This is a phenomenally hard task, so we will need all the help we can get! With your kind donation, we will be helping the lives of thousands each year. We will also be hosting a bake sale at the café to help raise some more money and awareness for spinal cord injury. The charity is very close to my heart, as my Aunt is in a wheelchair due to spinal cord injury, so all of your donations would really mean the world. Thanks to back-up, she has been able to do all sorts of incredible things such as learning to ski. Everyone deserves a chance to live their life to the full.
