My background is in business. I set up the publisher Harriman House in the mid-90s and have since been involved in other start-ups.
My son Billy and I decided to create Pledgit in 2015 when we signed up for our cycle challenge in India in aid of The Urology Foundation. Initially we thought Pledgit would consist of a few web pages about our campaign, but the more people we talked to about the idea of matched funding, the more we realised that it had broader potential. So Pledgit evolved into a platform for fundraisers who, whether doing a challenge or not, are prepared to put their own money in, in order to encourage donations from others.
I hope you like the idea and that if you are doing a challenge yourself, you will consider using Pledgit.
