The West Quantock Way is a very demanding but rewarding walk, which takes in some of the most beautiful countryside in southern England. This splendid walk takes you through the beautiful Mendip Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty from Wells to Uphill. The walk is 26 miles (42km) long and takes in around 1,558 m (5,112 ft) of climbing. The walk will start near Compton Bishop and finish in the ancient cathedral city of Wells.
Students and staff from Prior Park College will be undertaking this walk on 28th April 2020 to support ‘Time is Precious’. This is a voluntary run charity which has been running since 2011. It was set up by Neil and Nicky Halford in memory of their son Ben who sadly died from cancer in 2010. He was cared for at Bristol Children’s Hospital, Frenchay and RUH children’s ward for almost four years.
The aim of the charity is to help create a more comfortable and relaxed atmosphere for children and their families in hospital or at home. The charity works alongside specialists to purchase equipment and refurbish areas to support not just those children who because of illness or disability find themselves in hospital for treatment but also their families who want to be with them because time is just that precious.
Any donations you are kind enough to make will go directly to ‘Time is Precious’. The Eastcheap Charitable Trust will match the first £500 of public donations made via this website (Pledgit.net)
