Alongside the 3 School charities, we are also committed to two House charities. Lockites will also raise funds for Horatio's Garden and Compassion. Both charities are very close to our hearts.
Further information about our House charities is below.
Horatio’s Garden is a national charity creating and nurturing beautiful gardens in NHS spinal injury centres to support everyone affected by spinal injury. They grow thriving communities to support patients, their families and friends facing long stays in NHS hospitals.
Leading landscape designers create these stunning sanctuaries, working in collaboration with prominent architects to design garden rooms ensuring the space can be used all year round. The gardens become an integral part of people’s lives throughout their time in hospital.
The charity is named after Horatio Chapple, a volunteer who had the original idea of creating a garden away from the wards for patients and their families. He was tragically killed by a polar bear in 2011.
Compassion is a leading children’s charity. At their heart is a relentless passion to act on our compassion and empower every child left vulnerable by poverty. Our approach to fighting poverty is highly focused and personal. It’s summed up in three simple words: Compassion for children. For 68 years, Compassion has been giving children the opportunity to escape the suffering and fear poverty brings.
