The Highfield School sponsored walk on 21 April is raising funds and awareness for Highreach Holidays, a venture which the school has launched to give mentally disabled children a summer holiday and their carers much needed respite care.
For one week this summer, approximately 20 moderately and severely Learning disabled children will attend a week-long, volunteer-run, residential holiday at Highfield School. We will provide constant one-to-one
support for every child. Junior volunteers are overseen by experienced group leaders and the senior team is always on hand to offer extra help if necessary.
The programme is modelled on the Oundle School Mencap Holiday, which has been running successfully for over 30 years. As well as providing 20 children with a wonderful holiday, the week also provides a valuable break for their families, often giving them their only opportunity to holiday away from home.
Any donations you make will be used to help to fund this year's HighReach Holiday. You can read more about Highreach here.
