Why we're pledging
From Wednesday 26th - Saturday 29th October, one woman and fifteen men are going to break the Guinness World Record for the longest 5-a-side game of football!

The current record is 70 hours and 3 minutes. We are going to play for 72-75 hours. To do this we have 16 people, 2 squads of 8, to play each other with standard 5-a-side rules. Each team will have 5 people play at one time, 4 outfield players and 1 goalkeeper with 3 substitutes. The entire match will be recorded and refereed by FA-qualified refs, to be reviewed by GWR officials after.

As an idea of the scale of the challenge, over the 72 hours of the challenge, our entire team with run a total of over 2,000 miles. We will sleep for 6-12 hours' sleep each and score over 800 goals – hopefully close between the teams at the end!

Our squad varies in age from 23 to 28. We come from different backgrounds and different parts of the country, normal people with one thing in common: we all love football.

The purpose of the challenge is to raise money for 'Football Beyond Borders'. Through football, this excellent charity teaches children resilience, focus, confidence and teamwork - skills that will stand them in good stead for the rest of their life.

Further details about the event will be posted on this site. If you are able to come along, we'd like that very much. We're highly motivated, but your vocal encouragement from the touchline will be a big boost.

And if you can make a donation on this page, however small, that would be fantastic too.
