Why I'm fundraising
Hi I am an U5 student at St Swithun’s School. I know not everyone is as lucky as I. The Bramston Bursary Foundation (BBF) is raising funds to provide boarding places for girls whose family circumstances mean that a St Swithun’s education would otherwise be impossible. For the first time, the BBF is looking at providing places to children who would otherwise be in care or on the brink of the care system. The Bramston Bursary Foundation is working with other charitable partners who have considerable experience in identifying girls who would benefit from this opportunity. There are some 1100 children in care in Hampshire alone and in the UK, over 100 children enter the care system daily. Their opportunities for success through charitable organisations such as the BBF are hugely increased. To kickstart the fundraising this year, our Headmistress Jane Gandee has committed to running the St Swithun’s Way (33 miles no less!). This is a 33 mile stretch of the Pilgrims Way from Farnham to Winchester. She is encouraging as many of us as possible to participate and help make our education a reality for another child in Hampshire. Obviously, we are not all expected to run the full distance with her!! I have chosen the 18 mile (29km) walk from Chawton to St Swithun’s. I will set off around 8am on Sunday 22nd September 2019 hoping to reach School some 7 hours later. St Swithuns will match every £ raised! If you feel that helping to fund an education (one that I have been privileged to receive) for a less fortunate girl in Hampshire, then please consider sponsoring my walk. I know it is a local charity but one that will make a real difference to the actual life of child, taking them away from care and providing them a top class education. Any amount will be gratefully received. Many thanks for taking the time to read my page. Cally
