My name is Rob Wilkinson and I am competing in this challenge as I feel passionately about the Noman charity. The foundation wants to eradicate HPV cancer which can be causal of 5% of all cancers. My own family has been touched by cancer and so have my friends and if my rowing in this race can inspire people to donate to the charity, that is all I ask for.
I am 36 years old and was at sea for many years and qualified as a ship's captain but this challenge is going to really take me out of my comfort zone but it will be worth it . I am co-founder of a business now which keeps me very busy but I still find time to turn into an adrenaline junkie now and again and have done lots of strange things for charity such as Tough Mudder, sleeping out rough in London, many races including one with my dog but this is going to be the hardest and I know there will be a lot of training but I am ready!! I have even got support from people like Frank Woodford MBE of the Maritime Association and Ralph Hoult OBE of the Maritime Support Network so I am very grateful.
So ,if you have ever wanted to do something like this but were not able for one reason or another, come on this journey with me by watching my training when my website goes up or when Noman show the race as it happens . I will update this page with all the details.
In the meantime, please think about pledging to this great charity, especially if you have been affected by the terrible disease of cancer and help me to beat it .
