In 2002-2003, my husband Tom circumnavigated 4,500 miles of Britain’s coastline to raise awareness and to fund research into Parkinson’s; he named it “Coastin”.
In 2005, along with three other people living with Parkinson’s, he co-founded The Cure Parkinson’s Trust (CPT) – a charity which has directed over £7.5 million to date into research for a cure. Very sadly, Tom died suddenly on 31st May 2017 aged 49, but his incredible optimism, vision and drive towards a cure is still very much at the heart of CPT’s philosophy.
Myself and Hanya Chlala, a close friend to both of us, knew we wanted to continue to raise funds and support CPT, the charity which meant so much to Tom. So on June 3rd, along with my dog Indi we will set off to walk 200 miles around the coast of Scotland, in Tom’s memory.
