Why we're fundraising

In 2002-2003 my husband Tom Isaacs circumnavigated 4,500 miles of Britain’s coastline to raise awareness and to fund research into Parkinson’s; he named it “Coastin”.

In 2005, along with three other people living with Parkinson’s, he co-founded The Cure Parkinson’s Trust (CPT) – a charity which has directed over £7.5 million to date into research for a cure. Very sadly, Tom died suddenly on 31st May 2017 aged 49, but his incredible optimism, vision and drive towards a cure is still very much at the heart of CPT’s philosophy.

Myself and Hanya Chlala, a close friend to both of us, knew we wanted to continue to raise funds and support CPT, the charity which meant so much to Tom. So on June 4th, along with my dog Indi we will set off to walk 200 miles around the coast of Scotland, in Tom’s memory.

Beginning in Leven, we will walk the Fife Coastal Path to Dundee, where we will meet the research team from Dundee University who are working on project for Parkinson’s. The next day we will welcome Will Boyd-Wallis back from his epic fundraising walk around the Cairngorms, ‘Round the Park for Parkinson’s’, where we will be joined by Vicki Dillon and her delicious tea caravan Bea.

The second leg of our journey will take us from Fraserburgh to Findhorn/Forres, ending with a walk around the Kearvaig Bay area - Tom’s favourite place on “Coastin”.

During our walk we want to raise awareness of CPT’s incredible work towards finding a cure, and help with the much needed funding of clinical research into Parkinson’s.

Thank you so much for whatever donation you can give. Come and meet us in Dundee (and bring a cake!) or somewhere along the Path. Here’s where we plan to be and when:
